Hi all,
Seems like it never stops. Shadow needs surgery tomorrow morning to remove her eye. The base cost for the surgery will be $600 plus pain meds etc. etc. She is eating and drinking very well, loves to play in her water but cannot even close her eyelids. It is like something out of a horror movie and simply heartbreaking. She appears to have zero sight in her other eye at this time but is doing well remembering where the walls are etc. She is amazing and deserves a good life. Matt and I have been placing the orphans, and he delivered 6 to Danniell this morning. Danniell is part of the "team", and is helping us find wonderful forever homes. Out of the 6, I believe she already had 3 homed. So although I cried when my babies left, I have to admit I was so grateful as we have to get the nursery ready (temps are already in 30-40's at night) and get things set up here for our rescued critters. IT IS IMPERATIVE WE HAVE A TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT READY FOR THE CRITICALLY ILL, INJURED AND/OR ORPHANED FOALS WE GET. So many babies die as they are left out in barns, stalls, trailers etc with "a blanket or heat lamp" and they simply cannot regulate their body temperatures. Without Mom to protect them they perish so easily and it breaks my heart as we hear about babies dying like that every year. We still need to bring the horses over from CA and move all the panels and shelters. This was so not planned, but is obviously where God wants us. OF COURSE I got "THE CALL!!!" just this morning. There are anywhere from 4-7 ? babies whose moms and families are shipping at this time, and we have never ever driven up there and picked up the same number. It is pretty much always higher. So now we need funds to get their blood work done, and transport them back to Chilly Pepper. So once again we need your help. These babies have to be saved from slaughter, or being "dispatched", and Shadow definitely needs that eye removed. Her poor eyeball is sticking about 1/2" out and she cannot close her lids. She was scheduled for Friday but there was an emergency situation so she is having the surgery tomorrow. We are so grateful for all of the love and support. This is so unbelievable that there is not even a day to catch up, (and yes, I am whining for a minute) but because of y'all, so many lives are being saved. Thank you. (I am hoping folks understand that especially with a blind and injured baby, in addition to another special needs baby, and all the big kids, I am once again way behind on my thank you's). It literally keeps me up at night as I don't want anyone to think we take even a single dollar for granted. We know that your donations are what make this possible. Update on our beloved Dee. Although we find it impossible to wrap our heads around the "findings", Dee's death has been ruled to be "self-inflicted". Therefore we have refunded everyone's money that donated to the GoFundMe as the investigation has been closed. The only thing we can do is keep on saving lives and we can honor Dee and her unborn baby by doing just that. So thank you for continuing to do this work with us.
