On our way home from South Dakota. Matt and I just picked up 6 more horse kids yesterday from ISPMB. (meet the kids at the bottom of this post) Karen, Matt and I deliberately picked out the thinnest ones and the ones who need the most help, as obviously those are the ones who need the critical care. These kids were just sorted out so they could get special care. We have already spent over $300 yesterday getting Coggins and Health Certs. (Not to mention getting here lol, and I imagine the trip home won't be free lol) We have the vet scheduled for Tuesday, but we have 6 colts to geld, including the 2 starvation studs from last month and we picked up 4 more stallions this time. ALL of these kids need immediate help for their little hoofers and some of them need groceries right away. We appreciate ANY HELP ANYONE WANTS TO GIVE, as we are looking at a huge vet bill. None of these kids have had any vaccines and everyone needs wormed etc. The bill for the colts will be around $1200 ($200 for each) gelding, and the hoof trims and being dropped for 5 was nearly $1000 last time, and we we have to do 6 this time. One of the babies needs some attention by the vet to her eye so the bill could easily be from $3000 - $4000 + with vaccines etc and eye care, We simply do not have the funds for all of that especially after the trip and paying for someone to care for the rescue while we were gone. Dee is amazing and we pay him a small amount considering how much time he spends and all the work he does. But talk is cheap and rescue ain't. LOL So please make sure we can get these kids the help they need right away. This is supposed to be our "down time" lol, and we certainly are getting "run down", but this is an emergency situation so we are doing the best we can. We can save more if folks want us to, as long as we have funding. There are over 800 horses and Karen needs to place 400 in her "best case scenario". But no matter the outcome, there are so many needing homes that we can't just sit and whine about what is happening. The best we can do is what we are doing. Actually help whatever horses we can. And WITH YOUR HELP, we will all make a difference. As always, we appreciate the love and support and Thank You for being part of Chilly Pepper - Miracle Mustang, Equine Rescue & More!

One of today's rescues (Tuesday, 10-18-16). This beautiful, sad and starving girl was dumped up in the hills and canyons of Winnemucca. She was found with her halter still on. This is "Precious". Can you believe her owners not only threw her away, left her to starve but couldn't even bother to remove her halter? She was found with Black Beauty, another "throw away", with horrible hoofers, also left out to starve. Luckily for Black Beauty, it appears she may have been nursing on Precious. No one knows for sure, but she is in much better condition, with the exception of her front foot which is horribly twisted. So that was our "unplanned" rescue for today. Both of them are going to need special trimming and lots and lots of groceries. Last week Matt and I went to ISPMB and brought home a 3 year old and 2 yearlings. The situation is pretty complicated at this point and Karen is trying to adopt out approximately 100 horses. Four State Vets went out and one horse was scheduled to be euthanized, and approximately 30 need to be sorted for special care.. The count was 810 horses on site, and as of now the Sheriff's office and Counties are feeding the horses. The horses have been gaining weight steadily with all the good food. Karen is providing a detailed plan to care for, feed and provide necessary care for the horses. Per the Court order she has until the 21st of October to provide her plan and until I believe the 11th of November to follow through. IF the county does not accept her plan, the horses could be seized and if not adopted out by December 1st they would go to "auction", and we all know what that means. Karen feels confident that she will retain her horses but does want to make sure she downsizes. At this time there are many horses available for adoption. Matt and I were asked to return next week to pick up more horses to be adopted out. We are working with Karen to get some good homes for some of these beautiful horses. It is definitely not an inexpensive endeavor, but circumstances dictate helping to move as many horses as we possibly can before the bad weather hits. Below are pictures of the horses we brought home. They also need hoof care badly.
