 We now have 9 babies at Chilly Pepper - Miracle Mustang, and of the two latest, Nuttah (means My Heart), and Samoset (meaning he walks over long distances) Nuttah was in the worst shape. These babies were run for over 3 hours by helicopters, and they are in really tough shape... Nuttah came into Melody's (a wonderful "foal mama" we work with) with her leg dangling and her hock hugely swollen. Melody cared for them (along with 5 others) until we could come get our little critical kids. Nuttah was then putting tiny bits of weight on her leg, but it was still hugely swollen and extremely painful. We put her on meds and brought her to our vet. Samoset had a head injury, but was not nearly as bad as Nuttah. Her procedure was $ 938.17, and she is returning to the vet tomorrow. As of now it appears she may need surgery. If she does, it most likely will be around $2500 on top of what the bill is tomorrow. We are hopeful, however, that we can at the very least postpone the surgery as she is feeling better and using her leg. We were advised that if there is any other joint that is infected like that the outcome would not be good. You never want to just "dump money" into one baby and not be able to save the others, but the reason we were called for her is that our specialty is the "critical foal care", and we do the critical care on and mostly save the "un-saveable or nearly dead ones". Cowboy is a great example, our local vet said he should be euthanized, but he had the same procedure as Nuttah, and he is doing great. Hers is a bit more complicated, but she is one of the sweetest little babies on this earth. I truly believe when God puts them in front of us it is because he wants us to help them!!! So please send lots of prayers that we can get her fixed up and do it without the surgery. Right now she is on meds 3 times a day and is just an awesome little girl!  Great news for the original 65 wild horses y'all have been saving! As I write this, Matt is taking another 6 to Idaho, is coming back and taking another 6, again to Idaho, and then 2 to Oregon. Prior to today, we were down to 32, so we should only have 18 left?? Of course I am not on the property, but I am pretty sure that is the correct number. So y'all have supported and made it possible for all these kids to have a life. Thank you, and we are expecting more deliveries in the very near future. When folks step up "just to help", we often need to raise funds for deliveries. Especially for transport for the babies, (and some of the big horse kids too), we need to make that happen and get the horses to their new homes. These folks are stepping up to help us give these horse kids a safe and happy home and get them off our books so we don't have the added expense of caring for them, and we can concentrate on what we need to accomplish here with these babies. SO - THANK YOU!!! - for making it possible for all these kids to get their homes, and for being part of saving the 65 Wild Ones. We are almost there, and I cannot wait until the trailer pulls out for the last time, and they are safe and settled. Together, we are getting it done, and I am so grateful for all of you being part of our Chilly Pepper - Miracle Mustang family. Right now our expenses are pretty high. We are going through an amazing amount of milk, milk pellets, baby munchies, hay and meds as we help all these kids get strong and ready for their new homes. We are going through over $2000 a month in milk powder, close to the same ($2000.00) in milk pellets and about a bale of hay or more lol per day. That is not including all the other goodies :) Some of these kids are eating the milk pellets and drinking less milk and that is why we are not going through quite as much of the milk powder. It sounds like more babies will be coming soon, (there are currently 8 that have been brought in (in Yakima) and we are waiting for the next call) so we need to stay on top of our supplies. We have been going non-stop, but because of y'all we are able to keep helping. We will be at Cal Expo in Sacramanto, CA if y'all want to come meet a baby and say hi. Hope to see you there.
