  URGENT NEED FOR HELP TO SAVE STITCH.
Stitch is an older gentleman, in his 20's, with some bad teeth, limps, has sore feet and is the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet. We need about $1500 for his bail and transport, and more for his feed, vet care etc, if any is needed. He is so sweet. Please help us cover his costs. He cannot go to slaughter.   As usual, there is never even time to grieve the loss of those we love.
I received an urgent plea to try and save 7 pregnant donks with the babies at their side. Mama Donkeys slaughtered for their hides. Do you want to help save them? Ok, I am reeling from the loss of Lou, and what he went through. There are times like this when it seems too hard to fight anymore. It is just too overwhelming and never ending. Then I get the call, and I am doing the only thing I can. Letting folks know about the need, and trying to save some Pegnant Mama burros and the babies at their side. THESE MOMS, and some of the bigger babies will be SLAUGHTERED FOR THEIR HIDES. ***See below.*** I don't know any other way to heal except by helping save others to honor the ones who didn't survive. I have always known Donkey hides were used and in demand, however I had no idea of the scope. Read the article from American Wild Horse Campaign in the pix below. China produces 5000 tons of EJIAO for medicinal n cosmetic purposes. China needs EIGHT - TEN MILLION donkey hides (See article below from American Wild Horse in the pix) to fill the demand to supply the demand for their products. We can't save them all, but I sure would like to help these 7 pairs. If you would like to help with Lou's vet bill, or help save these precious souls, I will fight for them. RIP Lou. The tears are pouring. Our beautiful boy left us tonight. He had his milk, went to sleep under the heat lamps for his normal nap, and quietly slipped away to heaven. I believe he took the last shattered piece of my heart with him.
Hospice rescue is simply the hardest. None of us want to go through the pain, yet we will ALWAYS fight with our precious kids if they are fighting and need us in their corner. I think it is a very precious gift from God to be able to bring these babies/horses some good food, loving arms and to ease their horrible pain and to let them know what it feels like to be properly cared for, even if it is for such a short time. It is such a blessing to know he left with his tiny belly full, sleeping peacefully under the warm light and with less pain. It is truly crushing to lose them, and I have never seen a baby so badly injured, fight so hard to not only stay alive, but to fight so hard just to get up because he "had stuff to do". Would I do the drive and spend the money again if I was asked to help? Yes, of course. Doc said it was 50/50, and we ALL agreed with his will to fight it would have been wrong not to fight with him. My heart is crushed into a million pieces, and I didn't know I could hurt so badly. With Melody, (TX horse), my dear friend Lisa passing from the car crash, and now my precious baby, it feels like I have no heart left, just a ripping pain where it used to be The hardest part of all is that this was caused by a human. There is no excuse, and I hope that God avenges Lou's horrible suffering. I went inside to get a bite and prepare the clay. His skin had come completely off from the rope injuries. There was no telling how badly his internal injuries might be, but with the proper meds, he had a chance if it was just from inflammation. Another thing that makes it so hard is getting them too late. Both Melody and Lou might have survived if I had gotten them sooner. Can you even imagine how cold and scary it was for Lou to lay out in the open, unable to even stand? I have no words, or none that I can say. Yet I never know what I am limping in to. You just go when you get called. Even knowing the outcome, he was only 1 week or so old, and he not only deserved the love and kindness, he simply needed it. Reading this through the tears, I hope it makes sense. Thank you for giving this precious boy a chance. We still have his vet bill and the costs to get him home and buried. Last night I received a 911 call for an orphan foal. What would normally take about 9-10 hours ended up taking up about 15 hours, due to the horrible conditions from the winter weather. I had no choice but to jump in the truck and head out asap. I am exhausted and really wanted to go hide for a few days, not drive myself through storms and winter weather. But it had to be done, so off I went. I arrived to meet Lou, (named after our beloved Lisa Lou Ussery, who just passed from a tragic car crash). He was not able to stand up and the folks thought he might be paralyzed in the back end. He was severely dehydrated, cold, damp and shaking like crazy. It was obvious he was in shock, and a great deal of pain, yet he was kind of playful and ALWAYS wanted his groceries. (ie. milk lol) Mama Mel, Cam and Jaysun loaded him into the trailer. I drove as quickly as I safely could, again due to ugly road conditions, straight to Goldendale Vet Clinic. Time was of the essence. We either jumped in and went for it or euthanized him. Watching him shake while you looked at the horrible injuries was heartbreaking. He shook and shook and shook, in spite of having a high temp of 103.3 He was clearly in shock and his leg looked broken. He needed Plasma (the life saving Colostrum. It is crazy expensive, but lifesaving where needed. He received fluids, the Plasma, antibiotics, anti inflammatory meds, ulcer meds, pain meds and the list goes on. Up until I left, he was unable to stand on his front leg or his back legs. Yet the whole time he was begging for his milk and drank several portions. As Doc said, "He Sure Wants to Live and is a Real Fighter." When I left, I asked Doc and she said he has a 50/50 chance, but man does he want to live. This is excruciatingly expensive, but was his only chance. His leg injuries were clearly caused by a rope, and thankfully the leg is not busted, although it might be permanently damaged if we can even save our boy. When you see that kind of fight, and especially when the condition was human caused, all you can do is pray hard, donate and share his story. Thank you as always. My heart is breaking into a million pieces. Not only did I find out we lost one of our Chilly Pepper Family yesterday, we also had to say goodbye to Melody, Melody was no longer even trying to help stand up. She was done, and made it very clear. She was pretty comfortable while she was down, moving around and eating and drinking and hanging out with her new friend Bunbun. However, there was some type of damage done in her back end, and it was making it impossible for her to even want to try and get up. Sadly, Doc let me know it was time, and as much as we all wanted a miracle, it was the only thing to do which would honor and respect what was best for her. I didn't post yesterday, because I was reeling from the shock of losing Lisa. Lisa has been a long time, and very much loved friend. She was the kind of friend that no matter how often or not we saw each other or talked, it was like a moment hadn't passed. She was so very loved by everyone who knew her. Lisa was ejected in an accident, from a car that rolled and died from her injuries. Lisa was a huge part of Chilly Pepper from way back in the beginning. Just 2 years ago she helped with our 20 starvation cases, and also adopted one of them. She touched so many lives and did so much with us when we were on different rescues. Jennifer, my "adopted daughter", and Lisa and I had so many different rescue adventures. Her loss is devastating, and I am having trouble processing this. It is always horrifying to hear about a fatal accident, but when they are yours, it stops your breath and sends you to your knees. All I could see was Lisa waiting for Melody. Melody was down when we arrived to pick up the kids. She had been down through the night, and by the time the tractor arrived to pick her up, it was almost noon.
The more times a horse goes down, and the longer each time, the more damage is caused, and can lead to death. She obviously was in very critical condition prior to us even rescuing her, and had marks/injuries on her underside from being lifted improperly with straps. She was transported into her stall at the vet on the glide shown. She sat up like a princess and just rode on in while all of the rest of us puffed and huffed and pulled with all our might. She is in critical condition, but her blood work showed a very good chance of her surviving and Doc said she was worth fighting for, as she was obviously fighting to be here. I had a choice of euthanasia, or committing to the costs of giving her a chance. It was $1500 in the door, as this type of care is extremely expensive and time consuming. These Docs are beyond amazing. She said it would be anywhere from $1500 to $3500. As of today, she is still in the ICU. She is moving around more, but doing worse as far as standing. I will keep you posted, but as of right this minute, she needs massive prayers and we need the funds to try to save her. We need a miracle, but I could not just give up on her, as she has been failed by people for who knows how long. These last 2 days have been the best she has had in a long time. She and Bunbun, the clinic bunny, have formed a friendship. She is being spoiled and loved on and if we do lose her, she will have 2 of her best days ever. We never even raised nearly enough to pay for the haul, and I am sorry but when my leg is too fragile, I simply have to hire help. We HAVE to cover her vet bill, and I am praying we do not have to pay for her to be buried if we can't save her. This has been one of the hardest rescues, and it has been devastating emotionally. I have to apologize. I was planning on doing the last leg of the haul myself. The horses have started their quarantine and have had a few days to settle and get stronger and feel better. However, it is time to get them home now. They need to be settled into their homes and have their little barns and continue their quarantine and start their healing. However, my leg is simply not up to me doing the haul myself. With quarantine, board and the last stretch of the haul, Chilly Pepper needs around $1540. It would have been so nice to haul myself, but it simply is not a good time leg wise. I won't take a chance on the safety of our precious kids. It is humiliating, but it is what it is. I will still be able to haul sometimes, but it is not always possible. I love to do it as it saves much needed funds. I hope y'all will understand and help me with this last leg of the journey. URGENT 911!! A family of Six? NEVADA Mustangs need you Now! They are headed straight into the slaughter pipeline unless we save them. I was told these mustangs came from the same area that WARRIOR did. This could be his DAD or BROTHER? The photo above shows how they comfort each other as they wait for an unknown future. I was told they are extremely reactive and need a safe place with someone who knows what they need. It is a rare opportunity to get them before they end up in the Kill pen. There is a stallion, 2 mares that are "covered", and a yearling colt. So in all reality, you are saving SIX lives! Look at these beautiful faces. This is THEIR 911!! Please help me save them. These are NV mustangs, and are set to ship to slaughter. We need $3500 for bail and transport. We need an additional $4000 plus for the vet bills, hay and feed for the next few months. Our current "special needs" kids also need more grain and special feed. We actually FEED and provide Medical Care for the horses we rescue. So many rescues are shutting down, or heading that way. The "matching funds" was a success, and that is what allowed us to not only get the pregnant mares and the Jennies, but to save "Jeepers", the horse with the eye injury. Jeepers was tortured, his face set on fire and Doc said he needs surgery on his eye, or what is left of it. We are not sure if that was from part of the torture, or if it might be cancer. The Cremello mare has a horribly infected leg, close to her joint. Doc said it is serious enough that even though she is very pregnant, she won't survive without getting the infection under control. There is a chance the antibiotics could cause a miscarriage, but if Mama dies from the infection, the baby won't live either. She is being treated with clay and antibiotics. Please say a prayer for her. It is so hard to see these injuries, but sadly they seem to be part of most of the rescues. Appreciate prayers for the rescue truck. She was towed in to the shop yesterday. It sounds like it could be extremely serious, AND EXPENSIVE. as it is something in the electrical system. Without her, I am stuck. Again, it happened in the driveway, not on a haul with horses and out in the middle of nowhere. God was watching over me as always. I am grateful for that, and praying for an affordable fix. Jeepers has a perfect home offer, once he is healthy and has the veterinary care he needs. A 7 year old who has already fallen in love with him. He finally hit the jackpot. I received an urgent call for 2 Pregnant Mamas, and 2 young Jennies headed to slaughter. So many folks ask why so many pregnant mares end up at slaughter? It IS deliberate!! The heavier they are, the more money they bring. We can't let these 2 innocent foals be cut of Mama's belly, and thrown away on the slaughter floor. Sadly, I have seen photos of that, and you cannot unsee them. I know times are tough, and honestly, it is scary trying to raise enough funds to save them, and also be able to support and care for them, until they are ready to be re-homed. The 1st Surgery went pretty well, although I am still in the hospital hoping to go home soon. Controlling the pain has been a challenge, but the new hip seems to be setting in well.. Unfortunately, I need, serious help with funding to keep hiring the help I need, pay down the vet bills, purchase feed, etc. Great news from Golconda. Spice is starting to gain weight and is getting the proper nutrition she needs. I haven't seen her, but she has run out of time. We need to raise at least $2,000 to get her safe, transported and settled in with the basics. Once again, it is with a broken heart, that I write this. Angel (Pumpkin) was one of the worst abuse cases I have ever seen. The cruelty in keeping this beautiful soul in this world is beyond comprehension. She had a broken hip, and a broken leg, both of which healed incorrectly and were excruciating for her in her day to day life. Her 3rd leg was nearly as bad, as all the tendons and ligaments were torn from her trying to support all that weight. Doc said there was nothing to be done to make her comfortable, except to release her from this painful life she has been forced to live. Brandy (Glamour) was so badly starved, she was too far gone to save. Their organs start shutting down and the damage is done. The only good thing was that for a short time, both of them knew love and had their bellies full of mash. They were both starving for affection and would actually leave their feed to follow me. Most starved horses will not leave their food. They just wanted love. Due to my leg and being alone, Doc sent a crew to pick them up so they could be humanely euthanized. They left this earth quietly and peacefully last night. NO more pain!! It will be around $1200? to have them euthanized, and buried at the ranch, after the vet visits and giving them the "last act of kindness". I appreciate any help with the vet bill and setting them free from their pain. Hospice care is one of the hardest things we deal with, and it's not just us, it's all the legitimate rescues who step up and end the horrific suffering caused by selfish humans. This beautiful "Old Lady" needs us now. She is emaciated and needs help. You can look in her eyes and see how sad and broken she is. I need to get special feed for her as she cannot seem to chew hay. She tries, but obviously it isn't working. She will need vet care, an equine dentist, and special feed, vitamins etc. Pumpkin, the Cremello mare shown in the collage, was born with leg deformities. She is slightly underweight, but her biggest issue is her feet. She will need special farrier care to get her comfy again._ Sadly, Pumpkin also appears to have cancerous sarcoids. Please help us help these horses. Animal Control was involved, and I want to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to Yakima Animal Control. THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP AND SAVING these horses. The owner was unaware of the situation and called me as soon as A/C notified her of the problem. Be careful who you trust the care of your animals too. The 4 littles are safe and sound at Dustin Time Rescue in Pocatello. It broke my heart to let them go so soon, but it made sense as they are trying to schedule my next surgery. The 3 bigger kids adoption came through, and they are also safe and sound in their new homes. So right now I only have Dakota and Tyler up here, and I believe there are 15? in Nevada. We need to buy $1000 load of hay in Nevada immediately. There are 15? to feed, and the horses love their groceries. I have a very special request for help this week. Luckily, it is a one time expenditure, We need $2097.94 to replace the emergency funds that were used for the electrician. The nursery buildings are now wired DIRECTLY & CORRECTLY, after having 2 extension cord fires. We have been on a waiting list and it was finally our turn. PTL! Between the hay, vet bill, restocking of supplies and the electrical work & my extra help, we need approximately $5000+. We can't afford or risk not having what we need if babies/horses show up unexpectedly. I will still need to hire extra help for a bit longer, (and that might be a bit of an understatement lol). It sure show how people coming together makes an amazing difference. I'm heading back to Seattle for a Doc appt next Thursday. Hopefully they will be scheduling my hip replacement on my "good leg". Thank You for helping us help these kids. These are NOT our normal babies. They are from a private herd dispersal. I am grateful they came straight to us as opposed to hitting a sales yard 1st. There are actually 4 milk babies, and 3 older kids. Two of them spent their first night at the vet hospital. (Our matching funds will cover their first night and the meds.) Princess Penelope, the one with the funny milk face was colicky and acting like she was dying. In all reality, the banamine and the trailer ride fixed her up quite well. She was quite perky by the time Doc saw her. Neither of them have any teeth yet, so they are very young. Both of them had fluids , plasma and antibiotics. I have already gone through 50 pounds of milk powder, and they are all drinking, and seem to be doing quite well. We are dealing with some diarrhea, but that is normal. A wonderful donor stepped up and said she will match up to a $1000 in donations. I cannot begin to thank her, as well as everyone else who is helping with these kids. This $2000 will go to the vet to cover the 1st night and the meds etc. This will include donations made as of yesterday morning at 10 a.m. I believe we are close to halfway there. A call came in this morning. Can we take a trailer load of 7 mustang kids? 5 MIlk babies and 2 older babies.
Of course I am running on Faith as always, so I said YES!. HOWEVER, we need serious help! We need approximately $3500, JUST to get them to Chilly Pepper. It will cost OVER $2000 for 5 babies for EACH MONTH of milk powder. We will need foal lac pellets, grain, hay, wormer, meds and to get them vetted. With seven on the way, we are looking at needing alot of help. I am also having to hire help for feeding, cleaning and taking care of everyone, thanks to my goofy leg. I put up the pix of my knee so folks understand why I need the help. I am not allowed to lift any weight, and am supposed to be on crutches at the very least. Doc said the original x-ray actually looked better, so that wasn't real happy news. I should find out next week if there is any improvement. So far the bone has NOT healed and it is looking like this is the new me until it breaks. They are seriously talking about amputation if it does break, so I am being extremely careful. However, I know God put these in front of me because He wants me to help. Help is an additional expense._ So please give generously. You, my Chilly Pepper Family are just plain awesome. There are so many hard times in rescue, and once again we had another hospice case with Dexter. Sadly, our beautiful boy was too badly injured to have any type of quality of life. Doc ended his suffering and we are all reeling from another heartbreak due to evil humans. He was seen by Doc several times, and we need to cover the vet bill for those visits and to have him euthanized and laid to rest. On a brighter note, Spice is not a mean or vicious horse whatsoever. Our on site gal Tiona, has already had hands on her and she is doing very well. I guess she didn't need a bullet after all. He is 2 weeks old, and I was told he was born in -22 degree weather. He didn't stop shivering for the first 9 days of his life. He is a wild mustang baby, and I received the call yesterday. As this is an absolute emergency, transport is costing $1000 and he will be arriving tonight at Chilly Pepper. I have Doc standing by, and we need to be able to provide him with every possible option. Doc is amazing and I trust her completely.
