WOW, I knew we were going to get alot of snow up here, but certainly didn't expect it to start this early. wahhhh :(
Honey Bandit has started some new "groceries" in addition to his old ones, and luckily they seem to be making a difference. His coat has started to come in much better and he is starting to gain a little bit of weight. (Wish I had to work that hard to gain weight :) ha ha). Pete is starting a winter coat also, but they are both behind the rest of the gang. The water lines/hoses have already been frozen, as well as the water tanks, so it is definitely on our "list" to get some of the automatic "warmer" buckets. Usually this kind of weather doesn't really come until much later, but according to the older "locals", all the signs are pointing to a long and very cold, snowy winter. Ugh (I happen to absolutely love snow, but ONLY if you are properly prepared). We are still working on trying to get the supplies to properly set up the hay shelters, finish the barns and shelters for the horses and stock up enough hay for those times when we are "shut in". Thank you to those of you who are involved in helping us with our mission, and if you go to Red Bluff Home Depot, tell 'em Honey Bandit sent you. As they are the first to donate for the "Winter - Warm and Dry" project, we want them to know how much we all appreciate their dedication to the community and our wild horses. Remember, for those "impossible to buy for" folks on your Christmas lists, you can always make a donation in their name. They get the tax write off (unless you take it - haha) and you not only help take care of the animals, you make them feel good also, as they become part of this wonderful endeavor. (Sometimes it doesn't seem so wonderful when your hands are frozen and you are chopping through the ice in the water buckets and carrying hot water out from the bathtub to try and thaw out their water - but 99.99% of the time it is awesome and makes you feel great). God gives us direction in what our lives are supposed to be for, and this is obviously where He wants us. Honey Bandit is proof of that. We have also been so lucky to have met so many wonderful people.
