1st the Good News - I have committed to the 3 NV colts and they are not going to ship to slaughter.
Due to a typo, we are short $1090 to finish matching funds and the new $500 matching funds for the extra $1000 needed to purchase these kids.
We are short $590 for the matching funds, which means we are basically short $1180 for the fund raiser. This means we can only get 1/2 a load of hay. We definitely need a whole load.
THE BAD NEWS - When I was contacted about these 3 boys, there was a typo in the amount of the bail. The total was $2950, NOT the $1950 we fundraised for.
The $5000 was $2000 for the horses, $1000 for vetting and gelding these 3 and $2000 for a load of hay.
So we still need the $590 for the 1st matching funds.
We have ANOTHER Angel who stepped up and is offering to match $500 to raise the additional $1000 I had to pay to save these kids. When you add up bail, paperwork and transporting with these hideous fuel prices, it is still not an unreasonable amount to spend to save 3 horses.
So the total needed altogether for 1 load of hay, bail and transport for these 3 studs, vetting and getting them gelded is $1090. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to save these precious lives. This has been one for the books with the additional stress, and I am so grateful they will not face being butchered alive.
For those of you are skeptical, like I am, I actually did see the invoice for these horses and the total was supposed to be $2950.

We have less than 24 hours to save these lives!!
In 24 hours these horses, including the pregnant black mare, will be loaded onto a filthy trailer with no food or water and sent to Mexico to be brutally butchered, often while they are still alive.
I cannot save them without your help! Please help save these Nevada Mustangs.
I am beginning to think if we cannot save 4 horses, that maybe the writing is on the wall and it is time to hang it up. It is beyond draining to always need to raise more funds, and if we cannot save these precious kids, I guess this might mean it's coming to an end???? The economy is horrible, and fuel prices make these rescues even more costly. I guess it comes down to - WHAT ARE THEIR LIVES WORTH? I have been doing this for over 20 years and it literally sucks the life out of you. Maybe it is just time to say "I can't". You tell me.

FIVE MORE KIDS NEED HELP ASAP!
I literally just got another 911 call for ANOTHER 5 more lives. I was told these kids were in a group of 10. The other 5 were sold to a kill buyer and have already shipped.
Today we were given the chance to help out the remaining 3 very wild stallions and the Pregnant Mama. So not only 5 on Saturday, but ANOTHER 5 lives need IMMEDIATE HELP!
I need to say YES in less than 37 hours. I have to commit by 9 a.m. on Friday morning. With a total of 10 new horses in one week, I need to order another load of hay, and the vet bill is going to be very big with the special needs mare we just got and to geld all the stallions.
Everyone is always angry about having to pull them from the slaughter pens, and we have the chance to keep them home in Nevada. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not let them down.
I know I am wound right now. It is alot, but I need y'all to help me save them.
I KNOW WE CAN DO THIS. The goal is $8000 so we can responsibly say YES, order another load of hay, feed all the new kids and get the needed medical done. This will also cover getting them delivered to Chilly Pepper, so that is also a big win.
These kids are young, so once they have some training we should be able to adopt them out. In the meantime, THEY NEED HELP NOW!!!

Meet the FIVE new kids....... Thank you to everyone who has helped so far.
All the kids made it here safe and sound.
As you can see, there is some serious work to be done on the "2". Both need their feet done, and if I can raise enough funds I really want to get xrays of Chiquita's feet. I have never ever seen a neck so large. With the condition of her feet, it would be wonderful to be able to get some xrays of her hooves to see where her coffin bones are.
Grandma Gracie says "thank you". She already went through the last $800 plus load of feed. She is basically living off grain. She still looks so sad but she has the brightest, calmest happiest eyes I have ever seen. Her light literally shines out of those beautiful eyes. Her coat is starting to get shiny and soft, instead of feeling like a brillo pad.
Please know how much your love and support matters. I imagine Chiquita's care could be a bit spendy to start with. I know she needs farrier care immediately and I really want those xrays.
Just wanted to make sure y'all knew they were safe even though the fund raising wasn't completed.

Today turned into Frantic Friday. We need to get all 5 of these mustangs to Chilly Pepper by tomorrow.
Dakota's surgery went very well. The good news is that we ONLY have about $1500 left on the vet bill. That is important as Doc has to come out on Monday for the new kids coming into NV. We need to get this bill wrapped up asap so we can get the vetting done on Monday.
There are Five Mustangs who need you now!! Amazing news - 3 of them have their Transport, Vetting and Paperwork sponsored. We just need to pay off the old vet bill, and cover the costs for the other special needs kids. We will need to get more hay ASAP, (different kinds for the special needs kids) We need funds for immediate farrier care for the new kids and Tuesday is Hoofer Day with the drafts also getting their much needed trims. It won't be cheap, but is so necessary.
I am not excited about adding 5 more mouths to feed, but these kids needed us asap due to some serious health issues with the amazing folks who had been caring for them.
Thank you for all you do, and once again I am asking for serious help to make sure we can get these kids here now. This was a very last-minute rescue and they need help now!!!
I want to make sure y'all know that I am very aware that YOU and GOD are the reason this rescue does such amazing things. I simply could not do any of it without all of you. Again, I ask for your help. The animals need it. I will keep doing the work as long as I can, but I am just a tiny grain of sand on this rescue beach. You are the power behind it.
THANK YOU from all the critters!!

When it rains it pours. We need around $4380? to pay the rest of the previous vet bill, the current vet bill, the wiring repairs not only for the trailer, but also the truck. The rodents here are heck on vehicle wiring. The truck repair for the oil leak has been moved to next week, as they need it overnight. The 3 big kids, Benny, Destiny, Mouse, and Grandma Gracie and Selena are going through bags of grain and groceries like crazy. On top of that, the good ole State of NV wants the property taxes for the rescue acres and all the barns. Just life in general, but a lot is hitting at once.
Dakota had his surgery yesterday, and he needed it done asap. He is going blind at an alarming rate, and I need to get him healed and turned into "a gelding" and move him over where he will run and live his life as one of our "blinds". It would be extremely beneficial for him to meet the band and learn the property before he is fully blind. I led him through the gate and reached out to scratch his neck, and he nearly sent me sideways because he didn't see where I was. He had a horrible reaction to some of the meds during surgery, and thankfully it didn't kill him. It was terrifying to watch. Doc Ross and Doc Bonnie did their usual amazing job, and so far he is doing very well.
Your donation paid $1800 to the previous vet bill, and we had another person donate directly. We were short, but not by too much. However surgery isn't cheap, so I need to focus on that bill again.
I cannot begin to express my thanks and appreciation for your love and support. The wonderful news is that today, all the kids are improving and gaining weight. Destiny's eye is closing perfectly. Thank goodness Doc upped her meds when she had that infection.

Heartbreak and the gift of peace.
Wendy was a wild mustang who came to Chilly Pepper after being horribly abused. She was used for the "sport of tripping", where the whole purpose is to rope their legs and cause them to crash to the ground. She was also used for other horrible "fun". I have literally worked with/been around thousands of horses over the last 20 years, and she was by far the most traumatized.
She was the most terrified horse I have ever seen, and it was so beautiful to see her settle in. I posted about how exciting it was when she started coming closer. She was in perfect health, and ran and played and just "got to be a horse". Wendy was happy.
Yesterday she came in and laid down where I would see her. She never does that. Wendy had one of the most prolific prolapses I have ever seen. It was the size of a watermelon, and I knew instantly she could not survive. She was in major pain and I called Doc immediately. I knew I should have just put her down, but I couldn't. When I got closer she jumped up in a burst of adrenalin and ran back to the others.
The first day that Manny wasn't here to help, and I needed to round up all the wilds and bring them in. The only folks I trust that actually know how to do it right were either in Idaho or gone for the day. There were 9 wild horses on about 15 open acres, and 2 of them are blind. So I needed someone that actually had the skill and knowledge to get them safely gathered without stressing Wendy out even more and not getting the blind ones injured.
Doc showed up, and I could breathe. He and I have worked together for 10 years with the wilds and knowing I can trust him to "git 'er done" the right and safe way was huge. We rounded them up, sorted the others out and he was able to end her suffering. On the outside, she looked perfect. She had been eating, drinking and acting normal. There was fresh manure. Whatever happened had been festering inside, and then came out in a horrible rush. However, what ever ruptured was badly infected and it appears it could have been colon cancer???? At this point all that matters is she is no longer suffering, although once again my heart is broken.
Our vet bill is now sitting at $2300 with Grandma Gracie's meds, and Doc never said anything, just dropped everything to come out and end her pain.
I need to get this paid asap, as we have an appointment on Monday to geld Dakota. I am just grateful that Doc is so amazing and always puts the good of the animals before anything else.
I also need funds to get her buried today. She was covered last night, and her friends stood by and said their goodbyes. It is always hard to know they are out there, but it helped a little bit to see her band surrounding her and getting to come to terms with the loss.
Rescue is hard and sometimes it is just too much. Having to do a fundraiser at a time like this is really hard. The trailer now needs new wiring as only one brake works and the other does randomly, and that is after spending almost $700 to get the bearings and brakes done. The truck goes in on Monday and it is leaking oil.
I am sorry if this is a bit discombobulated. It is a really hard day and I just feel broken.
Please help and share far and wide.

Quick Update.
We have had some wonderful donations, and were able to get both kinds of hay, and no I did not load the flatbed lol. I did make sure it had every tie down possible on it and tied the bales together as well. My arm is in a brace so I couldn't load it. We were also able to purchase over $800 worth of grain. That is saving Grandma Gracie's life right now.
Grandma Gracie needs her teeth done, but if we sedated her she would not survive at this time. So she needs the grain/mash. She is improving every day, thanks to your donations and love and support.
You can clearly see what your donations are accomplishing. Thank you!!! Yesterday we had a trailer emergency. The wheel locked up and would not turn. That is another unexpected $700+/- expense. Doc has still not been paid and we need to pay the $1500 (Gracie's meds did come in), and get Dakota gelded asap.
The truck is heading to the shop Monday, and hopefully that won't be more than the quoted $800, so we need to get that covered. I had to say yes to the bigger load of hay. They deliver for free and I needed to "fill the trailer" to make it worth their while. Having free delivery saves us a fortune, and I am so very grateful they will work with us.
Thank you so much for making this possible. I thought y'all would enjoy seeing how much Benny has improved because of your love, support and donations. You can literally see where your money is going. For a 25+ year old horse, he is doing amazing considering the shape he arrived in. Your donations make that happen. Please help us with the vet bill if you can. Thank you!!

Hi Y'all,
I am reaching out with an urgent plea for help. I need $800 for the truck repair, $1500 for hay this week, $1500 for the current vet bill and the incoming meds for Grandma Gracie. Funds are at a record low and I need to get Doc paid, purchase the new meds, get hay asap and buy more grain. I appreciate your help and know we can "git 'er done'.
The GOOD news is that All of the new kids are doing a little bit better each day so far. None of them are "Out of the woods yet, but heading in the right direction."
We had to take Grandma Gracie in for bloodwork and an emergency checkup. She was crashing pretty badly.
Destiny's eye was coming apart and she was getting a bad infection in spite of her meds. She also needed an urgent appointment. At one point Doc thought we needed to put her down but thankfully came up with another chance for her.
Benny's sheath was hugely swollen and ended up needing a little procedure to remove a huge "bean". This was inside his private parts and preventing him from urinating. Normally they are pretty small, like maybe marble size?. His was the 2nd largest Doc had ever seen. Kind of similar size to a lime. It had to be so painful and was obviously in there for a very long time.
So we had lots of emergency type visits in the last week or so. Thank you to everyone who donated so far for the vet bill. I believe it is now down around $1350 or so. This does not include the new meds that are coming for Grandma Gracie and those are another $200.
The GOOD NEWS is all of them are improving and feeling better so far!
I need to get a load of hay in the next couple days. I am looking at about $1500 for a smaller load and that will get us by for a bit. We are down to a couple big bales and we are caring for about 20 kids right now. So I need to get the hay asap, as well as grain and the rest of the supplements these kids need.
Grain for all of them averages around $30 a bag, and we are going through a lot, lol
The truck needs some repairs and general maintenance to the tune of around $800. That is the best case scenario.
Please help and share far and wide.

Heading for an emergency vet visit with Grandma Gracie and Destiny.
Some of the stitches where Destiny had her surgery have broken open.
I still have not paid any towards her surgery, and I know Doc is gonna need some money today.
If you would like to help so we can get our precious kids in today, it is much appreciated.
Simply call Doc Zimmerman and ask them to put it on Palomino - Chilly Pepper account. Their number is 775-623-0981 Appreciate it!
Please help and share far and wide.
We raised around $1200 of the monies needed. We are still short about $1300 and now I need funds to pay my driver as well. These kids are going to need lots of special feed, supplements and prayers. Please help and thank you to all those who have already donated.
Grandma Gracie, Selena and the unborn JJ are now safe and being given the critical care they need. However, after seeing Gracie's condition, as well as the other starved palomino, we realized she could not just "pop her on a transport and live to make it home." So my partners in crime loaded up their trailer and headed straight to Texas, prepared to provide the critical care they so desperately needed.
Danny and Danniell are the folks I know and would trust to provide the kind of critical care these kids need. This is what both of our rescues do, and I am so grateful they wasted no time in heading down. I am hoping and praying the horses will be ok, but at least we know everything is being done. Then after seeing the horses "in person" and the actual reality of how desperately they needed care, they called me and we left to meet them on the trip back.
We raised about $1200 of the $2500 we needed, and now I also need to pay my driver. The horses are safe from slaughter and heading home, but we still need help.
This trip is taking days longer than it normally would, as we are treating them like we would a newborn/injured/trying to die baby. And yes, we are using most of the same meds we would an orphan foal.

Clock is Ticking for Grandma Gracie
I received a call yesterday for this beautiful, very senior, very starved mare. She was dumped in the slaughter pipeline and her time is running out.
We need a total of $1500 for the shared transport, and about $150 to finish Selena and JJ's bail and $850 for bailing Grace and keeping her out of the trailer of death.

QUICK UPDATE - ANOTHER 911!
Got a call for Selena and her unborn baby. Selena is only a baby herself, just three years old. For her to already be bred is ridiculous, and now they both have been thrown away like trash. I cannot bear to think of them boiling her hide and dumping her unborn baby on the slaughter floor. So I am asking, Will you please help me save them both? Time is of the essence.
Destiny had her surgery and is doing very well. It was not an easy surgery, as her tumor was about 4 times the size of what you could see, and very deep inside her skull. Doc Ross and Doc Bonnie are awesome, and she is healing and already feeling a bit better. Time will tell if the cancer will come back. Right now we are just grateful she made it through the surgery with flying colors.
Benny is starved beyond measure. He is so huge, and his coat is so thick it is really hard to see how thin he is. He needs lots of prayers at this point. A sweeter soul you will never meet.
Riddick, the horse who was down in the trailer, is safely at Dustin Time Rescue in Pocatello Idaho.
We need lots of help to save Selena, pay for the special needs feed, meds etc. that these kids need, pay for transport and pay the vet bill.
I know it is alot, but Selena needs us and fast. Thank you to all of you who save these precious lives. I simply could not do it without you.

Quick Update
Yesterday was a bit terrifying as we watched the weak, emaciated, blind belgian struggling to get up after falling in the trailer. As you can see, he could barely get up, crashed on to the ground and was unable to rise for a long time. He literally quit and would have died if we did not have our emergency supplies. (Now I need to replenish our kit, as we used up all our stuff.)
Thankfully we carry emergency meds and supplies, and after a few hours of continuous care he was able to stand and eventually load into my trailer.
It was a very slow and scary ride home. However, he did not fall again, and after more critical care last night, he did make it through the night and is doing a bit better. He is still not even close to being out of the woods yet. We were in contact with Doc and Dustin Time Rescue who actually pulled him. (Doc is sick and was unable to see him, but walked me through any questions that came up.)
Destiny's eye is much worse. I am going to have to relieve some of the pressure until Doc can do her surgery. Her hoof actually scares me the most as it is split all the way up to her coronet band, and is oozing some type of infection.
ALL these kids are in horrific shape and Benny is starving as well. He is literally skin and bones under all that hair. We still have not covered his costs to get to Fallon, nor the expenses to bring these kids home from there. I do not get paid for any of this, but I do need to pay my ranch hand. I am thanking God that my little voice said to bring Manny. None of us gals could have done what he did and the whole day was crazy. Loading a blind horse, especially one that has been falling down is very dangerous, but he handled it like a champ.
I was told Destiny was horrible to load and would try to jump panels. Luckily, she and I had bonded, and I simply put a rope around her neck, made a halter and told her I was asking her, not telling her to load. I told her I couldn't help her unless we got her home. I do know they don't understand all our words, but they darn sure understand energy and she trusted me. She walked calmly up and put her foot in the trailer. I handed her rope to Manny and he walked her in the rest of the way.
We are going to need lots of help to fix her hoof, have her eye surgery, and get these precious kids everything they need. I was not expecting anything like what I found. Everything was so much worse. I am so grateful to Manny for being there, doing whatever I asked immediately and just being plain awesome. No one else I know is capable (physically for sure) of doing what was needed yesterday. Us old gals are simply too broken.

Benny is literally loaded onto OUR trailer. PTL!! However, we still need your help to make this happen so I can go pick them all up and bring them home.
I committed and said "YES, Please load him."
We still need $1366 to cover the remaining costs we incurred to save him. We didn't have the funds for him, but we figured it out temporarily. because I know Y'all ALWAYS come through for these precious lives. I also said yes based on FAITH, and the fact that I know you would want me to do everything I possibly could to save his precious life.
Thank you for making this happen!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know we can do this!!

Got a 911 to fill the last spot on the trailer. My heart broke knowing we have already paid for the space, and another horse would ship to slaughter when all we needed was One More Miracle!!
We are Chilly Pepper - MIRACLE MUSTANG, and y'all have always come through. This just happened.
PLEASE HELP ME FILL THAT SPOT. Benny does not want to die. Let's give him a Mustang Miracle.
I had to commit on faith. Please help me save him. I guess God had a reason for that trailer to not be loaded when it was supposed to. His plan is perfect, and I know in my heart we are supposed to save this guy as well.
He needs your help, and so do I.

QUICK UPDATE!
DESTINY did NOT get loaded on the slaughter truck. PTL!!
She was saved by the storm, and now we have a bit more time to finish raising the funds needed to keep her safe. We still need $2760 to pay for everything to get her safely home.
Time is still of the essence. I need to be able to cover the cost of all her rescue expenses if we are going to help her! Doc is already lined up to operate on her eye, but we need to get her here!!
Thank you to everyone who has already donated. Mouse is safe from slaughter at Chilly Pepper, although he is a hot mess and will need lots of TLC and specialized care. He says "Thank you and PLEASE bring Destiny home"!!! Destiny needs your help now!

It's GO TIME AGAIN!!!
Meet "Mouse". He is now at Chilly Pepper. He has a plethora of issues, and is beyond exhausted, weak and has some type of problem when eating. His feet are horrific and now we start his rehab.
We are still short funds for Destiny. Y'all covered most of the funds needed to secure "Mouse" and the hauling. Time is critical for Destiny. She will be loaded up on Friday and we need to make sure it is not on the slaughter truck.
I was deeply saddened today. I was told there is "paid room" to save a few more lives, and there are lots of babies, mostly weanling or yearlings needing saved. They are big enough to load, and Destiny's hauling fee would include enough space to bring them home. However, I cannot begin to think about adding more babies to the trailer when we still need to cover Destiny's bail and hauling.
We had already committed to Mouse, and now that he is safe we need to make sure Destiny comes home and gets her surgery. I am praying for a miracle and that we do not waste the paid for space and can save at least one or more babies.
Please donate if you would like to help bring Destiny home. Thank you for saving Mouse and getting us closer to getting Destiny safe. I know we can do this, and time is running out.
The critical care is our specialty, and these two need it. THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP, DONATING AND SHARING.

It's GO TIME AGAIN!!!
Well we barely started the 1st rescue and I received a heartfelt plea to help Destiny. A couple of the pictures are graphic, but this is her reality, and I can only imagine she is in excruciating pain.
We still need about $2900 to cover the "Big Baby", (we have raised a little over $500). That covers his bail and to get him transported to Chilly Pepper, (as well as covering his Coggins and health certificate etc.)
I need to finish raising funds for him, but now I have a deadline to commit to this beautiful mare. It is beyond horrific to leave an animal in this situation and in this much pain. Then to top if off, they threw her in the garbage and sent her to slaughter. I need to commit in the next 24 hours.
We need to raise about $4000 to get her safe and home to Chilly Pepper, and then she will need immediate surgery.
We normally rescue a lot closer to home, but occasionally we get a special call that I just can't say no to. I am hoping y'all are with me. I am stepping out on faith and trusting we can save both of them. I actually was going to save her first, but was told it was too late. Today I got a message that she still had a chance and had not actually been shipped. So here we are. WILL YOU HELP US SAVE THESE PRECIOUS LIVES?
The critical care is our specialty, and these two need it. THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP, DONATING AND SHARING.

It's GO TIME!! 1st call of 2026. Look at those sad eyes. They tell a tale of neglect and a broken beginning.
I received an urgent 911 call for this beautiful , sad, very BIG baby. He has already been thrown away like worthless garbage at only 2 years old. He has obviously been neglected and not properly fed. His hooves are broken and split to the point of being dangerous. He is severely knock kneed and his joints could already be damaged. Imagine being loaded and sent to slaughter because you are imperfect. Guess I would have been dumped a long time ago. :(
Me heart broke when I saw him and looked into those eyes. I have to say YES!! He would be a wonderful addition to our Sunshine and Smiles Program, even if he can never be worked or ridden. He does NOT deserve to die.
Will you PLEASE help me save him? He needs good groceries, farrier help, TLC and lots of supplements.
A perfect way to start the new year - Let's save another life!!

I appreciate all your help. Each and every single dollar (donation) make all this happen. You guys make this possible, and the horses so appreciate being fed, having clean water and just to be able to live their lives as freely as possible. Quick update.
The water repair bill is paid in full. What a relief. Thank you, my amazing Chilly Pepper Family.
Sorry It's been a while since I updated. I lost two very dear friends/family right before Christmas. It set me back for a bit, and I am so grateful to have had 2 such amazing women in my life. One of them was Leslie Adam's, who was Lacy's manager and dear friend. She also worked tirelessly to find support for Chilly Pepper, and she took a big chunk of my heart. They both did.
It has been pretty calm here. Trying to get the quad repaired as I need to check about 20+ acres worth of fencing every day. It will be less expensive to fix the quad than pay someone else to check the fences. I am so grateful to have Manny (my part time ranch-hand). Your donations make that possible, and I am praying I get to keep him for a while.
My bone is still broken around my prosthetic, so I need to be able to keep him on for at least a few hours a day to feed, water, etc.
The cold weather has really kept the horses eating a bit more than normal. How wonderful to know that no one is shivering or cold, and they have enough to keep their bellies full in the frigid temps. They are running and playing and it is beautiful to see. Moonshine is still struggling, and we are watching her closely. She will be seeing Doc again this week to see what the best plan of action is for her.
We will need some hay, salt blocks and more grain pretty soon.
Hope all is well with you and your families. Again, I cannot begin to thank y'all for making this rescue so successful. Y'all are the heart and soul and I am so grateful for all of you. God has blessed Chilly Pepper and me so much. Let's make 2026 a year to remember!

Reba is just so tired after her pedicure, haha. Don't let the picture fool you; She actually just sat down to chill out for a while once we were finished. The wild ones you think will struggle the most are always the ones that surprise you. We were so happy that her trim went easily with very little stress.
The truck is running and we have water. Of course there was a little surprise during the repairs, but that always seems to be the case. I will know just how bad it was when I get the bill. For now, I am so enjoying our beautiful, plentiful, crystal clear and oh so cold water. The horses are loving it as well. THANK YOU for making that happen.
All the critters at Chilly Pepper wanted to send their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for all of your help. YOU make this rescue such an amazing success. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and praying 2026 is as successful, a little less eventful and a very happy new year.
Thank you for saving so many lives!!
