Hi, You did it! We squeaked by and a check is on it's way to Doc in WA to pay off the vet bill and we were able to purchase some hay. Thank You So Much!!! The economy is so scary right now. I know God has a plan, and I am having faith. The kids are all happy and healthy, and Tabitha went to her new home yesterday! The truck is going in on Monday. Estimated repairs are around $1000, and we still have not addressed the big repair. I am trying really hard to keep up on all the maintenance as the worst thing you can do is not take care of your vehicles. Thank you again for keeping your faith and being part of this. The animals you have helped save are so precious and they count on all of us. Right now they are fat and happy and playing and messing up every single water tub we have, lol. We now have a Matching Funds offer up to $1000 to finish this fundraiser, pay Doc and buy a load of hay. Sadly, I found out today that the funds that used to buy 40 of the big bales only buys 30 of the big bales this year. With the drought, high diesel prices and shortage, hay is in high demand and this makes things even harder. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who has stepped up to help us get this done. It gives me hope we might be able to get through these tough times. All we can do is one step at a time. Hi all, This is an extremely difficult update to write. With the current economy, and the lack of funding, I am looking seriously at whether or not Chilly Pepper will be able to continue doing what we do. I see so many rescues shutting down and I am actually having to think that might be a possibility? We raised roughly $515 during this last fundraiser for the much needed hay and vet bill. I need $2200 just for the vet bill and a big load of hay runs anywhere from $3400 to $4500 normally. That load lasts months, but I need to buy another load asap. The babies are loving their milk and munchies but those are also costly. I need to buy more grain for them today. We have horses who have started their gentling/training process so they can be adopted, but we also have quite a few permanent residents. Alot of them are older, but my 30 year olds look like they are in their early 20's. Before I started this, I personally owned 2 properties outright, this one and my place in CA. I had a corvette, a custom Harley, a jet boat, a custom truck and I had a nice little baking business where I actually received a paycheck. I simply have nothing left to put into this. The toys are gone, and I am living in a single wide trailer that doesn't even have more than subfloors. I am NOT complaining, I made these choices, and TOGETHER we have saved so many lives and ended so much suffering. I am just, as always, trying to share the brutal truth, and the fact is I need more help if we are going to keep doing this. I am happy to do this rescue, God puts the kids in front of me and I know what to do. However, I am not sure how long we can survive at this point. I am not trying to be dramatic, just letting folks know that if we are going to Make it, we need help. Sadly we have had to spend quite a bit of money on more security cameras as we have been dealing with some vandalism and folks letting out horses. As I live next to the 75 mph freeway, it is imperative we keep the kids safe and in their pens. As everywhere, there are some tweakers doing drugs/alcohol who think it is funny to wreak havoc. The sheriffs are involved and we are handling the situation, but that was more funds needed to increase the cameras etc. and hire more help to repair the fences etc. The (3rd) barn roof still needs to be fixed, and I simply have not had the funds. Tabitha crashed and was running an extremely high temperature, as well as having water diarrhea (scours). This can easily kill a baby in a day. Doc prescribed meds and she is slowly getting better. I was able to pay off the vet in NV, sent $500 towards the Goldendale Vet Clinic and ordered over $1000 of milk. The kids have inhaled that milk and I need to order more asap. Thank you for making that happen with the matching funds. However, it is go time again for more milk powder, milk pellets and baby grain. We are literally going through over $100 worth of milk every single day. Please help us keep these kids fed! Gretel was adopted by some family friends who have adopted before. They are amazing and are so happy with her. Sorry it has been a bit. We have been crazy busy. The babies are doing well, but we are quickly running out of milk money, and funds for taking care of all the critters. We still need $735 to finish our matching funds. That would help pay for the last load of small bales and help me order some more milk, milk pellets and baby grain. Things are super tight but these precious souls make it all worth it. We also need shavings, selenium blocks etc. I need to get the Goldendale Vet bill paid off asap. I am on standby for more babies, and I will need it paid in full before I can say yes to the new kids. It is high as Tabitha needed immediate emergency care and we had to get ELEVEN babies vetted, get their blood drawn, Coggins tests and health certificates before we could get home. Babies are safe and doing well. Only 1 needed emergency care and that was Tabitha. She seems to be doing extremely well right now. Two others had injuries that we are treating with clay and antibiotics.
Sadly the emergency visit will be spendy, but it was lifesaving. We are short about $ 2195 for the matching funds, and we really need to get those to pay the bills. I had a little issue with my trailer, but as usual I was in a safe place, and I thank God for that. Safe and sound in the driveway and it should be fixed by the time I get back. However, I did stop to take a little break on the way up and was in the living quarters part of the trailer. I looked up and saw "someone" about the size of a small rabbit zoom across my mattress. Right then and there I decided I was not sleeping in my bed that night. I love the critters but not rats the size of bunny rabbits running around my face. ughhh. So I am hoping the trailer is not only fixed, but my little rodent friend will be gone as well, or at least have the decency to hide. We work with Dustin Time Rescue and thankfully Danny was up there to help me with the babies and getting them vetted etc. So instead of me bringing my kids home, they all went home with Danniell temporarily so I could get my trailer ready. They will be coming over to pick up her donkeys from this last rescue so I can get my babies at that time. God always has me covered! WE NEED $2720 for matching funds to help cover some of the costs we are incurring! I got the phone call in the morning and was out the door the same day. On the way I got the call saying there were 11 babies. Of course I said yes. My faith is strong though my funds are low. The babies arrived shortly after I did. I sorted them and Doc showed up about half an hour later. We pulled bloodwork for coggins, gave some meds to one of the colts that has an injury on his side and Doc suggested we simply load Tabitha in her truck and head for her office. Tabitha needed lifesaving Plasma, fluids, meds and pretty much the whole kitchen sink. She was lethargic and I had kept checking on her cuz she looked like she might be dead. She is feeling much better after all her emergency care, and drinking her milk like a champ. She would not have made it without the immediate critical care. As you can see, my fuel bill was atrocious. It will be just under $1000 to get this trip done. I spent about $700 my 1st day picking up 4 20# milk replacers, some electrolytes and some hay. The milk is enough for about 1 week for the 4 smallest. We are starting the older kids on milk pellets, which are not quite as expensive. We seriously need both pellets and powder. These babies need LOTS OF HELP! I also want to let folks know I have already been put on notice for another trailer load within the next 2 weeks. I need to have funds for milk, meds and to finish transporting the kids from this batch. If we cannot pull this off, I will need to let them know we cannot take more. We have an amazing total matching funds offer of $3500 for these babies. This will be a good start to getting them paid for, funding the fuel for the trip and buying a few weeks worth of milk powder and pellets. Tabitha's vet care and the Coggins are also going to need to be covered. So far we have about $780 towards the matching funds so WE NEED $2720 to match the funds. I received an urgent 911 a couple hours ago to pick up Orphan babies. It looks like we will be doing that again this year. However, these are young and I need to leave today. Fuel can be expected to be around $900, as I have to take the baby trailer and it is a beast. (She is actually 4 feet shorter than that one.) However, she causes the truck to eat fuel, but I need it when we are getting orphans. We need funds for fuel, ($900+/-) Foal Milk Replacer, (Not multi-species), emergency vetting, feed, medical supplies etc. I was not prepared as we did not expect to get these foals again this year. A bucket of Mare's Match Powder is $107.99 at Walmart. One baby usually uses one of those +/- a week. We need baby wipes, gloves, baby thermometers and all the normal foal stuff. Please help as I am heading that way now. Once again I am running on Faith. My heart is shattered as Lavender had a miscarriage the night before last and we had to end her suffering yesterday as well. Lavender has been struggling for a long time. We only had her 48 hours, but she had a huge mass behind her liver that was rotten and just shredded apart when Doc did her necropsy. Her stomach was huge and looked like a basketball and her liver was super enlarged. Doc said he had never ever seen anything like it, and he has been doing this 50 + years?? So yesterday was a double heartbreak, and as usual there is no time to grieve. I am just about to jump in the truck and head out. I have a donor who will do matching funds for any donations made from here on forward until it reaches $2500. We now have another big vet bill, even after our Angels paid off the one 2 days ago. Guess what? The rescue needs more help. It's true, and it always will be as long as we keep doing this work. Mr. Honeybandit decided to hurt himself and we had to take him to see Doc. Another unexpected expense. Critters always want to eat, even if they are stuck somewhere waiting for their transport. More unexpected needs. URGENT NEED is to pay off Doc the $1500 we owe left from the last few appointments, ie 6 gelded colts and Mr. Honeybandit's appointment. Thankfully Honeybandit appears to be feeling a bit better. Yayyyyyyy URGENT NEED to pay off today's truck repair bill of $1900. Stock trailer towed to the shop this morning, and I have no idea what it will cost to fix it. Seems like every time you have a budget there are always unexpected emergencies. URGENT NEEDS ARE: I need to pay Doc $1500 plus today?????? He is still willing to come out tomorrow as Sweetie needs him to check her asap, and we need to get them vetted. Need to pick up the truck today from the 1st repair, and it is $1900 Y'all have been amazing, and your donations paid for the hay in full, to repair 2 of the smaller hay barns damaged in the storm, get the front tires for the tractor, fix the spare trailer tire and about $600 at the feed store, and paid the bail and transport for the donkeys, and the prior vet bill was also paid in full. I am extremely worried about Sweetie. She is feeling punky and walking stiffly on her back end. I am praying she is ok, and that Doc can tell me for certain tomorrow if she gave birth and is ok. I am sorry it has been a minute. Some losses just shut you down. Gracie is one of those. Mama Donkeys should be here on the 11th. A little glitch with transport but they should be here safe and sound on Monday. I believe we need $1021 for the matching funds. Truck part is in and the 1st repair is scheduled for tomorrow. That should be about $2000. Another unexpected expense, the tractor has been needing tires, and decided it would force the issue. So we are getting 2 new front tires. That is roughly just under $500. ANOTHER UPDATE - GREAT NEWS!! - We now only need $2480 for the 2nd part of this fundraiser to do the first repairs on the truck. Thanks to y'all coming up with enough funds for the initial $2500 match, the Donkeys are coming and our beautiful Angel is keeping her word and matching the next $2500 that is donated.
Our donor said if y'all can get the Mama's home, she is willing to MATCH UP TO ANOTHER $2500 so I can get the initial truck repair done. We still need to fix the nursery barn roof and one of the hay barns from the storm damage. Our vet bill is most likely going to be about $2000. All 6 Colts are gelded!!! Woohoo!! Sadly, we incurred some unexpected costs with Grandma Gracie. As always, unexpected medical related expenses pop up when you least expect them. We had some excitement/drama as one of the colts, the beautiful Cochise, ended up with some complications from his gelding. He is expected to heal completely, although it was quite scary. Our beautiful Grandma Gracie is now running free in Heaven. Although this hit me even harder than I ever thought possible, I am so grateful to All of you, and to God for giving her the time she had with us. She spent her last weeks wandering free in the front acres in the yard with the donkeys, Feather and the miniatures. They all were a big pain in the butt as they followed us everywhere and did their best to HELP with each and every project. She ACTUALLY TROTTED around with Feather 3 different times. She was so proud and oh so fast, (not really fast - but she certainly thought so), and definitely oh so proud. She was the happiest and most "at peace" animal I have ever had the privilege to care for. I still can't stop crying. So Gracie's last weeks were the happiest she had been in I don't know how long. Sadly there are always "end of life" costs, and laying her to rest was another unexpected cost, but again I am beyond grateful we had her. Look at her "before" photo. She was so sad and in so much pain. You can clearly see how much better she was doing and feeling. She never really did "feel bad", her organs simply started failing from her age and the horrors she had survived. When she left, her coat was soft and shiny and she had the most peaceful look in her eyes. Her body was just exhausted and Doc said she was like a thousand years old and it happens. She laid down and quietly left this earth to fly free in heaven. THANK YOU for giving her that love and joy in her last few months!!! We need to raise about $5000 to get these TEN lives saved. I have not seen the mamas, but were told they will most likely be foaling in the next month or two. This INCLUDES DELIVERY which is huge as fuel prices are insane right now and climbing higher almost every day. It is also wonderful as the truck is still not able to haul until repairs are done. We do have another Angel stepping up who says she will match up to $2500!!! Let's save these Mama's!! As far as the issues below, the one hay barn has been fixed, and we ended up with a much bigger load of hay than I was thinking. You are looking at about $4000 worth of hay, and I was budgeting for about half that. I am also thanking God that our hay guy is amazing!!! Doc laid down 6 colts for gelding yesterday. Boy were they a rowdy bunch. Colts 2, Gate - 0, one panel - 0 However, minus the bent gate and panel, everything went great. The kids are doing well and no injuries. However, that will be another nice chunk of a vet bill, lol. So as usual, never a dull moment. For folks that don't know, Google Donkeys killed for hides and you will see the horror in the numbers. Someone is trying to test my Faith. I know God has this, and I have faith in my Chilly Pepper Family to help us get this done. However, we have been slammed with emergencies all at once and I sincerely need your help!! 1. Honey Bandit was in a scuffle and injured during the storm and is most likely needing xrays on his shoulder. He seems to be feeling a bit better. 2. Grandma Gracie decided to split her head open above her eye. It was a decent gash and looked pretty dramatic. Had to call Doc on that one, but all is well and she is healing with zero damage to her eye. She is trotting around the yard like a little princess. Her eye is much better and she has been having a blast playing in the yard. 3. We had a serious wind storm which blew off most of the barn roof. Waiting for an estimate. It appears that alot of the metal roofing and possibly some plywood will have to be replaced. Right now it is kind of deadly if it comes off the rest of the way, so we cowboyed up and used the heavy duty tied down straps to hold it in place until it is safe to remove it. 4. Storm tore apart our small hay shelter. Estimate for that is $450 - YAYYYY REPAIRS COMPLETED. Also completed repairs on the other barn I didn't know was damaged. 5. Truck needs 2 MAJOR repairs. So as of now it is sitting in the driveway. The parts for the first repair are ordered, and the estimate is $1940. This is absolutely critical as it is the Charge Air Cooler that needs replaced. Without this repair, the turbo will overheat and destroy the engine. 6. The 2nd Repair is the most expensive, but I have a bit of time to get that done. It is the Inner Timing Cover and the estimates are $5000 - $7000. This is the one I was trying to avoid and they did the outer seal but it did not work. It is estimated as 17 +/- hours of labor, which is why it is so expensive. Depending on where it is done, there is a 3 year warranty for parts AND LABOR, which is pretty rare to have the labor covered as well. 7. The stock trailer decided to not raise or lower, and I need to take it in as soon as the 1st truck repair is finished. We will have to find a way to get it up on the truck, most likely with a tractor. I simply HAVE to have a running truck and trailer to operate this rescue. All of our equipment is old, but we have cared for it diligently. Sometimes equipment just needs some love, and mine is screaming for help!! The good news is y'all covered the $2300 vet bill I just paid off, and the load of hay that is coming this week. THANK YOU!! Doc is scheduled to come out in May and we have 6 kids to geld. I won't lose my Faith, and even though there is alot going on right now, I know we can "git 'er done". Due to a typo, we are short $1090 to finish matching funds and the new $500 matching funds for the extra $1000 needed to purchase these kids. We are short $590 for the matching funds, which means we are basically short $1180 for the fund raiser. This means we can only get 1/2 a load of hay. We definitely need a whole load. THE BAD NEWS - When I was contacted about these 3 boys, there was a typo in the amount of the bail. The total was $2950, NOT the $1950 we fundraised for. The $5000 was $2000 for the horses, $1000 for vetting and gelding these 3 and $2000 for a load of hay. So we still need the $590 for the 1st matching funds. We have ANOTHER Angel who stepped up and is offering to match $500 to raise the additional $1000 I had to pay to save these kids. When you add up bail, paperwork and transporting with these hideous fuel prices, it is still not an unreasonable amount to spend to save 3 horses. So the total needed altogether for 1 load of hay, bail and transport for these 3 studs, vetting and getting them gelded is $1090. Due to a typo, we are short $1090 to finish matching funds and the new $500 matching funds for the extra $1000 needed to purchase these kids. We are short $590 for the matching funds, which means we are basically short $1180 for the fund raiser. This means we can only get 1/2 a load of hay. We definitely need a whole load. THE BAD NEWS - When I was contacted about these 3 boys, there was a typo in the amount of the bail. The total was $2950, NOT the $1950 we fundraised for. The $5000 was $2000 for the horses, $1000 for vetting and gelding these 3 and $2000 for a load of hay. So we still need the $590 for the 1st matching funds. We have ANOTHER Angel who stepped up and is offering to match $500 to raise the additional $1000 I had to pay to save these kids. When you add up bail, paperwork and transporting with these hideous fuel prices, it is still not an unreasonable amount to spend to save 3 horses. So the total needed altogether for 1 load of hay, bail and transport for these 3 studs, vetting and getting them gelded is $1090. In 24 hours these horses, including the pregnant black mare, will be loaded onto a filthy trailer with no food or water and sent to Mexico to be brutally butchered, often while they are still alive. I literally just got another 911 call for ANOTHER 5 more lives. I was told these kids were in a group of 10. The other 5 were sold to a kill buyer and have already shipped. Today we were given the chance to help out the remaining 3 very wild stallions and the Pregnant Mama. So not only 5 on Saturday, but ANOTHER 5 lives need IMMEDIATE HELP! I need to say YES in less than 37 hours. I have to commit by 9 a.m. on Friday morning. With a total of 10 new horses in one week, I need to order another load of hay, and the vet bill is going to be very big with the special needs mare we just got and to geld all the stallions. Everyone is always angry about having to pull them from the slaughter pens, and we have the chance to keep them home in Nevada. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not let them down. I know I am wound right now. It is alot, but I need y'all to help me save them. I KNOW WE CAN DO THIS. All the kids made it here safe and sound. As you can see, there is some serious work to be done on the "2". Both need their feet done, and if I can raise enough funds I really want to get xrays of Chiquita's feet. I have never ever seen a neck so large. With the condition of her feet, it would be wonderful to be able to get some xrays of her hooves to see where her coffin bones are. Grandma Gracie says "thank you". She already went through the last $800 plus load of feed. She is basically living off grain. She still looks so sad but she has the brightest, calmest happiest eyes I have ever seen. Her light literally shines out of those beautiful eyes. Her coat is starting to get shiny and soft, instead of feeling like a brillo pad. Please know how much your love and support matters. I imagine Chiquita's care could be a bit spendy to start with. I know she needs farrier care immediately and I really want those xrays. Dakota's surgery went very well. The good news is that we ONLY have about $1500 left on the vet bill. That is important as Doc has to come out on Monday for the new kids coming into NV. We need to get this bill wrapped up asap so we can get the vetting done on Monday. There are Five Mustangs who need you now!! Amazing news - 3 of them have their Transport, Vetting and Paperwork sponsored. We just need to pay off the old vet bill, and cover the costs for the other special needs kids. We will need to get more hay ASAP, (different kinds for the special needs kids) We need funds for immediate farrier care for the new kids and Tuesday is Hoofer Day with the drafts also getting their much needed trims. When it rains it pours. We need around $4380? to pay the rest of the previous vet bill, the current vet bill, the wiring repairs not only for the trailer, but also the truck. The rodents here are heck on vehicle wiring. The truck repair for the oil leak has been moved to next week, as they need it overnight. The 3 big kids, Benny, Destiny, Mouse, and Grandma Gracie and Selena are going through bags of grain and groceries like crazy. On top of that, the good ole State of NV wants the property taxes for the rescue acres and all the barns. Just life in general, but a lot is hitting at once.
Dakota had his surgery yesterday, and he needed it done asap. He is going blind at an alarming rate, and I need to get him healed and turned into "a gelding" and move him over where he will run and live his life as one of our "blinds". It would be extremely beneficial for him to meet the band and learn the property before he is fully blind. I led him through the gate and reached out to scratch his neck, and he nearly sent me sideways because he didn't see where I was. He had a horrible reaction to some of the meds during surgery, and thankfully it didn't kill him. It was terrifying to watch. Doc Ross and Doc Bonnie did their usual amazing job, and so far he is doing very well. Your donation paid $1800 to the previous vet bill, and we had another person donate directly. We were short, but not by too much. However surgery isn't cheap, so I need to focus on that bill again. I cannot begin to express my thanks and appreciation for your love and support. The wonderful news is that today, all the kids are improving and gaining weight. Destiny's eye is closing perfectly. Thank goodness Doc upped her meds when she had that infection. Wendy was a wild mustang who came to Chilly Pepper after being horribly abused. She was used for the "sport of tripping", where the whole purpose is to rope their legs and cause them to crash to the ground. She was also used for other horrible "fun". I have literally worked with/been around thousands of horses over the last 20 years, and she was by far the most traumatized. She was the most terrified horse I have ever seen, and it was so beautiful to see her settle in. I posted about how exciting it was when she started coming closer. She was in perfect health, and ran and played and just "got to be a horse". Wendy was happy. Yesterday she came in and laid down where I would see her. She never does that. Wendy had one of the most prolific prolapses I have ever seen. It was the size of a watermelon, and I knew instantly she could not survive. She was in major pain and I called Doc immediately. I knew I should have just put her down, but I couldn't. When I got closer she jumped up in a burst of adrenalin and ran back to the others. The first day that Manny wasn't here to help, and I needed to round up all the wilds and bring them in. The only folks I trust that actually know how to do it right were either in Idaho or gone for the day. There were 9 wild horses on about 15 open acres, and 2 of them are blind. So I needed someone that actually had the skill and knowledge to get them safely gathered without stressing Wendy out even more and not getting the blind ones injured. Doc showed up, and I could breathe. He and I have worked together for 10 years with the wilds and knowing I can trust him to "git 'er done" the right and safe way was huge. We rounded them up, sorted the others out and he was able to end her suffering. On the outside, she looked perfect. She had been eating, drinking and acting normal. There was fresh manure. Whatever happened had been festering inside, and then came out in a horrible rush. However, what ever ruptured was badly infected and it appears it could have been colon cancer???? At this point all that matters is she is no longer suffering, although once again my heart is broken. Our vet bill is now sitting at $2300 with Grandma Gracie's meds, and Doc never said anything, just dropped everything to come out and end her pain. I need to get this paid asap, as we have an appointment on Monday to geld Dakota. I am just grateful that Doc is so amazing and always puts the good of the animals before anything else. I also need funds to get her buried today. She was covered last night, and her friends stood by and said their goodbyes. It is always hard to know they are out there, but it helped a little bit to see her band surrounding her and getting to come to terms with the loss. Rescue is hard and sometimes it is just too much. Having to do a fundraiser at a time like this is really hard. The trailer now needs new wiring as only one brake works and the other does randomly, and that is after spending almost $700 to get the bearings and brakes done. The truck goes in on Monday and it is leaking oil. I am sorry if this is a bit discombobulated. It is a really hard day and I just feel broken. Please help and share far and wide. We have had some wonderful donations, and were able to get both kinds of hay, and no I did not load the flatbed lol. I did make sure it had every tie down possible on it and tied the bales together as well. My arm is in a brace so I couldn't load it. We were also able to purchase over $800 worth of grain. That is saving Grandma Gracie's life right now. Grandma Gracie needs her teeth done, but if we sedated her she would not survive at this time. So she needs the grain/mash. She is improving every day, thanks to your donations and love and support. You can clearly see what your donations are accomplishing. Thank you!!! Yesterday we had a trailer emergency. The wheel locked up and would not turn. That is another unexpected $700+/- expense. Doc has still not been paid and we need to pay the $1500 (Gracie's meds did come in), and get Dakota gelded asap. The truck is heading to the shop Monday, and hopefully that won't be more than the quoted $800, so we need to get that covered. I had to say yes to the bigger load of hay. They deliver for free and I needed to "fill the trailer" to make it worth their while. Having free delivery saves us a fortune, and I am so very grateful they will work with us. I am reaching out with an urgent plea for help. I need $800 for the truck repair, $1500 for hay this week, $1500 for the current vet bill and the incoming meds for Grandma Gracie. Funds are at a record low and I need to get Doc paid, purchase the new meds, get hay asap and buy more grain. I appreciate your help and know we can "git 'er done'. The GOOD news is that All of the new kids are doing a little bit better each day so far. None of them are "Out of the woods yet, but heading in the right direction." We had to take Grandma Gracie in for bloodwork and an emergency checkup. She was crashing pretty badly. Destiny's eye was coming apart and she was getting a bad infection in spite of her meds. She also needed an urgent appointment. At one point Doc thought we needed to put her down but thankfully came up with another chance for her. Benny's sheath was hugely swollen and ended up needing a little procedure to remove a huge "bean". This was inside his private parts and preventing him from urinating. Normally they are pretty small, like maybe marble size?. His was the 2nd largest Doc had ever seen. Kind of similar size to a lime. It had to be so painful and was obviously in there for a very long time. So we had lots of emergency type visits in the last week or so. Thank you to everyone who donated so far for the vet bill. I believe it is now down around $1350 or so. This does not include the new meds that are coming for Grandma Gracie and those are another $200. The GOOD NEWS is all of them are improving and feeling better so far! I need to get a load of hay in the next couple days. I am looking at about $1500 for a smaller load and that will get us by for a bit. We are down to a couple big bales and we are caring for about 20 kids right now. So I need to get the hay asap, as well as grain and the rest of the supplements these kids need. Grain for all of them averages around $30 a bag, and we are going through a lot, lol The truck needs some repairs and general maintenance to the tune of around $800. That is the best case scenario. Some of the stitches where Destiny had her surgery have broken open. I still have not paid any towards her surgery, and I know Doc is gonna need some money today. Danny and Danniell are the folks I know and would trust to provide the kind of critical care these kids need. This is what both of our rescues do, and I am so grateful they wasted no time in heading down. I am hoping and praying the horses will be ok, but at least we know everything is being done. Then after seeing the horses "in person" and the actual reality of how desperately they needed care, they called me and we left to meet them on the trip back. We raised about $1200 of the $2500 we needed, and now I also need to pay my driver. The horses are safe from slaughter and heading home, but we still need help. This trip is taking days longer than it normally would, as we are treating them like we would a newborn/injured/trying to die baby.
