GRANDMA GLADYS says
It's GO TIME AGAIN""
I am standing by for two more starvation? cases.
PLEASE HELP me make sure all the equipment is safe and running well.
The truck is still in the shop, the vet bill was over $5000, but thankfully I think we raised about $1000towards that.
You ever get that feeling that you need to get a "safety inspection". Well, thankfully I did, as the trailer needs some major repairs. Chilly Pepper only paid $7000 for it years ago. (That was thanks to the generosity of Double J Trailers.) It is a Bull trailer, so much safer with the wild stallions, mares and kids we save. The trailer also has "slam gates", which keeps me safe when loading and unloading wild stallions by myself. We have easily hauled over 1000 wild horses in it over the years, and it definitely needs some love to be safe.
So now I have the vet bill, the truck in the shop AND the trailer needing repairs. Double J also knocked about $1500 dollars off of the initial bill. They are a huge part of our endeavor to keep saving lives.
I had to get hay again in NV, for $1175 and hay in WA for $1050 today.
We have 11 on site in WA and 10 on site in NV. So we are still feeding 21 horses every day, plus extra groceries for the starved kids.
Although these are not the "fun" expenses, they are necessary to keep the rescue running. I am hoping and praying we can raise enough to get both the truck and trailer out of the shop and to get the vet bill somewhat under control. We still have several of the starved kids who need their teeth done, once they are healthy enough to be put under anesthesia.
There are no roundups at this time of year, but we need to be ready in the next month or so. I need that trailer and truck ready to go.
Thank you for helping save so many lives!
Rescue is so expensive, but so many of the cases God sends us are end of life and need to have their suffering ended.
Thank you as always!

Thank you for your continued help with these precious lives.
I know God keeps sending us lots of emergencies, BUT IT IS TRULY LIFE AND DEATH for these horses. It is not just grabbing the cute ones, or the easy ones, or creating orphans so you can fundraise. It is stepping up and figuring out how to do the impossible. YOU, MY CHILLY PEPPER FAMILY, are the ones who do that. YOU are doing the real rescue for the horses with no other options. Let's do it again. These horses are absolutely precious and deserve every good thing for the rest of their lives.
At this point folks are asking why we are not getting the babies off the reservation. The babies being brought in are "ordered" and roped off their healthy Mama's. It is part of one catcher's idea of "range management'. I would agree wholeheartedly, but not until they are of the age to wean. So many of the "manufactured orphans" will die because your average folks have no idea the work it takes and how easily these babies crash. If you watch on the internet you will see new babies coming in to be "matched to Mama's:, while their real Mama's are heartbroken, and they have been stripped from their natural families as newborns or week old to month old babies. Chilly Pepper will NOT be involved in that. It breaks my heart, especially watching how long Mercedes suffered,.
We will always take actual orphans, or the injured etc. The gentleman I work with normally doesn't even start rounding them up until June to give the babies time with their Mama's.
Chilly Pepper will continue to do exactly as we always have. Be there for the real orphans, and horses in need, to the best of our ability.

Have a safe, blessed and life saving 2023!
