The air is crisp and cold, and the remaining splashes of snow are icy
and very slick. The horses seem to be doing well and their coats are growing thicker. Since we started adding the "new groceries", Honey Bandit appears to be putting on more weight. I was pretty worried for awhile, but I think he is going to keep picking it up at a good (not too fast) rate and be ready for winter. However, I think DaBubbles has made it clear that he is a "tropical kind of guy". After spending last winter in the warm glow of the heat lamps, I think he figures tropical beats popsicle. Our friend Teresa was "volunteering" and burning some of the stuff out back. She said she had to keep pushing DaBubbles away from the fire. He absolutely loved the fire and thought he should be very very near it at all times. He hung around "helping", and she was pretty sure that he thought this weather was, as my mom would say "for the birds". It is quite a bit different than last year when we were all living in the carport and Honey Bandit and DaBubbles had 24 hour warmth and "sunshine". We are officially having the candle light vigil on December 15, in the Holiday Shopping Center in Palo Cedro. We will be at the opposite end of the parking lot, close to THE BARN BUM. Kim, owner of the BARN BUM, Is the one who raffled off the Honey Bandit chair to raise money for him) and they have the most awesome stuff in that shop. I absolutely love it, and that's where my hubby and boys shopped for me for Christmas last year. You guys that "don't know what to buy your girl", well you should definitely stop on in. There are treasures galore. In fact, the whole shopping center is a gold mine when it comes to picking out unique presents. The PALO CEDRO GIFT GALLERY is also another unique, perfect place to shop for that someone special. They have "new age - Vintage Lace", (gorgeous - gorgeous clothing), beautiful and very unique jewelry as well as home decor. Like I said, there is something for everyone in this darling little shopping center. You also have Nancy, who has COUNTRY GIRL "NCUNIQUE", one of my personal favorites. (That is where my sparkly purse came from for my anniversary. My husband rocks, especially cuz I got to pick the purse ha ha). For anyone who loves sparkle, this store is a dream come true. We also have the True Value, where they not only supply all your hardware needs, but are one of the greatest stores around for personal, service not to mention the friendly critters behind the counters (the dogs and cats). Next to them, you have the PALO CEDRO EYE CLINIC. Sue Kossol, who was a huge help to us in planning this event, has wonderful choices for all your glasses and contact needs. They offer a multitude of services and specialize in that home town personal service. Next we have ANOTHER CHANCE ANIMAL RESCUE. Kathy and Joyce jumped on this right away to help not only Honey Bandit, but all the other wild horses that still have a chance to live their lives in freedom, if we can stop BLM from ignoring the fact that they are FEDERALLY PROTECTED by the 1971 Free Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act. They are one of the wonderful rescues we work together with, and the amount of animals they have saved and adopted out is amazing. They also will have their store open especially for this event and once again, a wonderful shop with all sorts of different items. Every penny you spend there, goes directly to the care of the critters. We are inviting the schools to come and share in this historic event. 40 years ago, this law was passed, due to "Wild Horse Annie" and a group of school kids that cared enough to protect these animals. We need to continue spreading the word that these animals are federally protected and also to celebrate the miracle that is Honey Bandit, America's Poster Boy to Stop the Roundups! So come and join us. Celebrate with us and light a candle for our beloved wild mustangs, We ask any vendors to contact us if they wish to provide their goods for sale to the last minute Christmas shoppers. We need a lot of help to pull this thing off, and I thank you in advance for whatever you can do. If you can spread flyers, contact radio stations, or just tell your friends. It is time to honor Honey Bandit and all the folks who helped to save him. Please come and share this special date with us. We will be there from 4-7, so come on down and "git er done'. God bless ya'll, Palomino & the Gang, 530 474 5197 or 530 339 1458 with questions or if you want to volunteer.
