Hey folks - Please give serious thought to where you adopt your wild baby mustang from. The numbers of wild mustangs and their wild babies (and yes, that is in addition to the domestics) going to slaughter is beyond horrific. So before you adopt from folks that are PURPOSELY breeding mustangs on private land or in sanctuaries, ADOPT A TRULY WILD ONE, not one bred in captivity. The folks that are breeding indiscriminately and unfortunately, no matter how many excuses they have, or what the supposed reasons are - those folks need to take care of the additional horses that they CHOOSE to deliberately bring into a world that is already over crowded with mustangs headed to slaughter. Every single baby that is DELIBERATELY BRED and then adopted out is KILLING an innocent baby that had no choice and WILL SUFFER A HORRIBLE AND PAINFUL DEATH FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN THE HOME THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THEIRS WAS GIVEN TO A BABY THAT WAS BRED ON PURPOSE, .......... I understand that there are some breeds, like the Santa Cruz Island Horses, who were nearly wiped out under the care of humans, that NEED to be revitalized. But folks, we need to stop the madness. Until all the wild mustang babies and adults are safe from the horrific slaughter train and unspeakable pain they suffer, we need to stop breeding more mustangs. Their is ONE legitimate rescue that has a reason to allow breeding, and that was started by Wild Horse Annie. http://www.ispmb.org/. They have the only TRULY UNTOUCHED bands of horses living in the wild on a sanctuary. They are NEVER touched, fed, rounded up or bothered in any way. Her place is the ONE place where "observing" mustangs who are left in their family state IN A SANCTUARY could actually help force the BLM to see the reality of how leaving the horses alone is the best solution. Visit http://www.ispmb.org/ So please, be part of the slaughter solution, not part of the problem. Adopt from the right source... Don't be a reason that an innocent baby is sent to slaughter. The babies that are deliberately bred, on purpose, are the responsibility of the sanctuaries that breed them. Obviously we all know how many thousands of U.S. horses are going through slaughter every single day, so they must have a back up plan, so those babies are the ONLY ones who are safe.... Adopt one who doesn't have any other chance. I am not talking about the ones that are born in captivity after their mom's were pulled from slaughter. These babies are also in danger as it takes such a vast amount of money to support these critters the rest of their lives. By adopting from some of the larger, well known groups who are now over full because of the emergency situations where they had to take in huge numbers to save the mares from slaughter, you will be part of the SLAUGHTER SOLUTION, NOT part of the slaughter problem..... Thank you for your consideration and love for the horses.
