   Quick update.
Went outside this morning and Stardust had these horrible hives. She is one of the wild mares y'all helped save, and she is bagging up and this is a very delicate time for Mom and Baby. She is COVERED in hives and her head and nose are extremely swollen. We are extremely worried about her airways closing. Doc is basically on standby for another emergency visit if needed, and for now I have meds for her. Doc said it could be a black widow bite???? We definitely have them here. It came on so quickly. If she starts having trouble breathing, she would need steroids and at this point that could be extremely dangerous if not deadly for her unborn baby. We also do not want to stress her out by putting her in a chute and causing premature labor. I need to pay Doc asap. Her condition is extremely dangerous and he may need to do another ranch call if the situation gets any worse. We owe for the colt getting gelded, (yay), the last 3 ranch calls, the sedation for the drafts etc. and to pay the farrier. which was the last work we had done. However I think the vet part of it is down to $825 now. We need it paid asap though as she cannot wait if we need him to come help. The babies are nearly out of their grain and milk pellets, and I need to order more small bales. It is also the time of year we need to restock our meds, and sadly some of them are spendy. However, especially in emergency situations like these, we NEED to make sure we have the meds on hand for immediate care. I appreciate all the love and support and am so glad we are able to provide the immediate care in situations like this when it is needed. Thank you for helping her and please say a prayer for her and her unborn baby. She is bagging up quite a bit and we are hoping for a wonderful healthy baby very soon.    This update is so difficult. We have always been a "family", and although this is my personal loss, it is beyond devastating and I still have to take care of our kids and basically since I share all the good, bad, and everything else with y'all, I am doing what I always do.
I got the call that my brother died last night. He is the beautiful man in the first picture. Steve was born "special", and although Mom and Dad were told he would be extremely "limited" and to put him in a home, they just loved him like crazy and he lived a full and productive life. He is my biggest inspiration and had the most beautiful and loving heart I have ever known. I will never understand why something that helps someone and eases so much pain still hurts so badly. Steve was suffering, and now he is not. The loss is still crushing and I just want to wrap my arms around him and tell him I love him once more. The good thing is he is in heaven and he absolutely knew how much he was loved. I wanted to share this so if do not hear anything for a few days, you will understand why. All the horses are doing well, and Tabitha is back home and very happy to be back. Even with grief, the rescue still has needs. I need to buy some of the small bales of hay for the babies and other kids who cannot eat the big bales. Hammy and Tabitha need milk pellets and baby grain and we need funds for the vet bill and farrier. The drafts are not cheap to trim lol. The truck only has 130,000 +/- miles on it, but she keeps having little issues. However, the little issues always end up being expensive, just like everything else in life. Now she needs brakes. Again, nothing major, just another expense. Thank you for paying her last "doctor visit " to the mechanic. If you feel like helping it is much appreciated. My 2 legged and 4 legged family are all intertwined, and I am struggling right now. We need to bring Tabitha home. My hauler is on the way to pick up Tabitha as I write this. That means I have about 8 hours to raise the funds. (My trailers cannot get in to where she needs to be picked up, or I would have done it.) Tabitha has had so many issues since her birth, and although her new Mama was one of our adopters who still has a horse she adopted from us, it was not a good fit. Tabitha has been a total mess since she got there. I am still looking for a baby who IS the right fit for her Mama, but Tabitha needed to come home asap. I am so grateful her Mama realized right away that this was not the best baby for her. There are times when we get babies who are kind of "special needs" and right now Tabitha is one of those. We had delayed the adoption to give her time to settle and start under halter, etc. I also need to order about $450 more milk powder and baby grain. Truck repairs today are $790 and I need to get that paid asap. Truck brakes are needed in the next few weeks, and at some point I need to get the big oil leak/repair done. However, for now it is just some maintenance, repaired lines and oil and filter changes. Both vet bills were paid in full! Thank you! Of course, that means Doc had to come out and lay down both of the big kids for some work on their hooves. Both of them came in with some pretty messed up hooves and Destiny's was split clear up to the top. Doc measured Destiny and figures she is about 2300 pounds. She would not "take her nap", even with massive amounts of anesthesia, and he had to come back out the same day with more meds and was finally able to lay her down. I guess it is Murphy's Law, as soon as you pay off the vet bill, someone does something or someone new comes in or someone needs something. Good news - It looks like Cherry has her new home as well. She should be picked up this weekend. I appreciate all of y'all and your wonderful love and support! Hi, You did it! We squeaked by and a check is on it's way to Doc in WA to pay off the vet bill and we were able to purchase some hay. Thank You So Much!!! The economy is so scary right now. I know God has a plan, and I am having faith. The kids are all happy and healthy, and Tabitha went to her new home yesterday! The truck is going in on Monday. Estimated repairs are around $1000, and we still have not addressed the big repair. I am trying really hard to keep up on all the maintenance as the worst thing you can do is not take care of your vehicles. Thank you again for keeping your faith and being part of this. The animals you have helped save are so precious and they count on all of us. Right now they are fat and happy and playing and messing up every single water tub we have, lol. We now have a Matching Funds offer up to $1000 to finish this fundraiser, pay Doc and buy a load of hay. Sadly, I found out today that the funds that used to buy 40 of the big bales only buys 30 of the big bales this year. With the drought, high diesel prices and shortage, hay is in high demand and this makes things even harder. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who has stepped up to help us get this done. It gives me hope we might be able to get through these tough times. All we can do is one step at a time.
