Hi All, Chilly Pepper needs your help now. Just got off the phone for a 911 orphaned foal call. This kid needs to go to the veterinary hospital asap. He has no Mama and needs critical care. I am currently in Reno, and having a root canal in the morning. Then I will be hot footing it back to Golconda, (182 miles), then grabbing the LQ, (baby trailer) and heading straight to Doc's in WA. If I sound a little flustered, I kind of am. However, I know we can do this. Right now I don't have the needed funds, but this is what we do. Saving the babies is one of the really rewarding parts. Y'all have saved so many and I need your help for these new kids. Funds are low, but when we come together amazing stuff happens. There are more orphans coming, but this little one is only a week or so old and needs us now. The average cost for the first couple months or so for an orphan like this can easily end up being over $2000 when you add purchase price, hauling, vetting, milk replacer powder ($115) per bucket, and 1 bucket lasts about a week? They need bedding, hay, milk pellets as well as the powder, Vaseline for baby butts, disposable gloves, baby wipes, meds, extra vet care for cases like this, supplements, baby thermometers and the list goes on.   Dreamer is a senior mule who needs our immediate help. His feet are horrific, and even so, they look a thousand times better than they did. However, even though the "farrier" chopped off a good 6 inches, there were no xrays, nothing is balanced and he is miserable. He is literally standing on what would be our ankle. He needs vet care, xrays and long term hoof care. He also has an extremely bad case of ring bone, so will likely need to be on meds. We will get him in to Doc asap, but need your help.
Jax also came to us a medical case. I was told there could possibly be bone chunks in his knee, and he is also showing back issues. We won't know exactly how severe his issues are until we get him reseen by Doc. At the time Doc came out, we were swamped with vet bills and couldn't get everyone done. Please help Jax and Dreamer. Both deserve to live out the rest of their lives happy and not in severe pain. Even after what they have been through, they are still as sweet as pie. Please let's show them that humans can still be kind and loving. We have been going through hay at an alarming rate, although the kids are fat, happy and loving life. I so appreciate y'all helping and the love and support. We were picking up supplies and on our way home from Fallon yesterday. The trailer tire failed, and we found out the leaf springs broke. Luckily we had no animals on board, but now we have another "needs to get fixed" lol. We also need to replace the blown tire as well. The tires were inspected and "good", but when the leaf springs snapped it all went to heck. Once again God kept us safe and I am so grateful we were not out in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. Again, THANK YOU so much for all the love and support. Hi, I know it has been a while since my last update. It has been non-stop crazy as always. Doc agreed to come out and start vetting the latest 10, even though the bill was not paid. We ended up with a $2211 bill and by the grace of God, one of our Angels called and paid the whole thing. Since then, we have incurred another vet bill for our beautiful Angel. Angel came in with Sampson and a few others last January. She was emaciated and extremely sore. She ended up getting pretty sick after we got her and slowly started gaining weight. Sadly, she also came in with both hips having been badly injured/damaged. Doc and I watched her over time, but the better her health got, the worse her hips were hurting. By the end it was so obvious that the only kind and decent thing we could do was end her suffering. She passed peacefully with Doc and I at her side. Once again, we had to go through the heartbreak and do what should have been instead of dumping her to ship to slaughter. At least she had some really happy and good times with lots of love and TLC. She was so very loved and I am grateful she knew that in the end.  At this time, our coffers are extremely depleted.
The truck needs servicing. We have several truck issues, and I like to stay up on the maintenance and repairs of all the vehicles as I drive in the middle of nowhere with 100's of miles of no cell service. The stock trailer needs serviced, checking breaks, greasing the hubs and making sure it is safe for myself and the critters I am hauling. When I haul the rescue only pays for the second trailer, (hauler) if it is needed. That saves thousands of dollars every year as I do not charge for hauling. Having a generator is a necessity for the LQ. This keeps us out of hotels and makes it possible to take care of the foals when I am on the road. When I have orphans, they need to be fed every 2 hours. This means we stop on the side of the road and I can make warm milk etc. I can also use the heat lamps when we need to if the weather is bad. The list goes on and these items need to be paid for so the rescue runs smoothly and safely. The prior rescue and those trips down south, along with not being able to fundraise for the hungry little kids, lol, has helped drain the emergency funds we had. There are so many unseen costs for rescues, like Insurance, vehicle insurance, utilities, vehicle expenses, wormer, shavings, cleaning supplies, part time help, and the list goes on and on. Whether I am caught up on my fundraising or not, the automatic payments keep coming out. I really need your help. Y'all always come through, and this time I am asking for help with the basics that we need to cover to keep things running. The vet bill will be big again as we already have the farm call, the euthanasia and burial for Angel. We have at least one donk that needs gelded and we still have a Crypt Orchid stallion who will need a big surgery to be gelded as his testical is floating somewhere it shouldn't be. That can be a very big surgery and can be anywhere from $1000-$4000 dollars. I so appreciate each and every one of our Chilly Pepper Family. As always, I will keep doing the work as long as I can.
